ELECT HOWELL IN NOVEMBER
F.A.C. enthusiastically endorses
the candidacy of
C. David Howell
for Forks Supervisor in the
November 2005 election.

Mr. Howell
(who prefers to be called
David but is stuck on the ticket with
his full moniker)
has graciously
stepped forward to give of his time,
energy, and expertise to help guide
our township through its next 6
years.
(See Morning Call.)

Howell is no stranger to these parts.
His family owned farmland in what is
now Martin's Creek but was then part
of Forks Township.  Some of you
may have seen the street sign for
Howell Road.  Yes, that is the same
Howell family.  Click
here to read
more of his local roots.

David has written a letter (below) to
all of us.
Dear Friends, Neighbors and Residents of Forks Township:

For those of you who don’t know me, I retired in 2003 from a thirty-seven year professional career,
mostly in Illinois, which spanned many disciplines. I practiced law, served as an Illinois Assistant
Attorney General and Division Chief, and most recently, a Trust Attorney for a major national bank.

In 1997, my wife, Reta, and I bought our current home in Forks Township, however, I am no
stranger to this area, as I was born and raised in Easton. I attended F.A. March Elementary
School, Easton High and graduated from Blair Academy in New Jersey. I went on to receive a
bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and a law degree from Villanova University School
of Law. Soon after successfully completing the PA bar exam, I moved to Chicago, IL to start my
professional career. During these past thirty-seven years, I married (in an Easton Church) and had
a daughter, Caryn, who resides in Berkeley CA with her husband and my granddaughter.

My family has its roots in Forks, which has personally influenced my wish to serve as your
Supervisor. We have been farmers and businessmen in Forks for four generations. Some of their
homes and farmhouses still exist near Martins Creek, where my late father, Chauncey D.  Howell,
was raised. Before his death in 1969, he had been the Forks Township solicitor for many years.
Much of my childhood summers were spent in Forks and I have fond memories of driving tractors
and working fields throughout the township.

When I moved back home, I had to separate in my mind the Forks of my youth and the Forks of
the present as so much change as occurred due to rapid growth and development in recent years.
This change wasn’t a surprise to me. Reta and I visited my family in Easton over the years so we
witnessed Forks’ transformation as a Community. This has motivated me to contribute my time,
energy and experience. Since my retirement, I have remained active in many civic organizations in
Easton and Forks Township. I am particularly proud of my participation as a member of the Forks
Township Zoning Hearing Board. As a strong supporter of citizen involvement in the municipal
government process, I regularly attend Supervisors’ meetings and take part as a citizen contributor
in the Joint Planning Meetings of the Board of Supervisors and the Township Planning Commission.

My participation on the Zoning Hearing Board and other civic contributions have been an invaluable
experience. When the opportunity to seek a seat on the Forks Township Board of Supervisors
presented itself, I was encouraged to run for office and I am now before you as a candidate willing
and ready to serve you.

Forks Township is at a critical crossroad in its development as a Community. Maintaining quality of
life for our families is a significant priority for all of us. I want to make this meaningful contribution to
Forks by ensuring that the direction of its growth is positive and beneficial to all its residents.

I have the personal integrity, qualifications and professional experience to serve as your
Supervisor.  I will a Fair, Independent Supervisor, able to provide the Leadership required for the
challenges before us.

I look forward to meeting and speaking with you in the weeks ahead.

Sincerely,

C. David Howell
